So, what do we mean when we talk about #WorkWeLove? Three things, for a start:
(1) Work that we’ve seen others do that just blew us away. This is the easy part.
(2) Decisions we can make as leaders to help our teams find more happiness at work and even discover what they love about work. Not always easy, this one.
I may have mentioned before that when my brother Matt and I told a few people that our 2020 theme for GO-VA would be “Act with Love,” some people told us that was a bad idea. “You can’t tell people you work with that you love them!?!”
In hindsight, we couldn’t have made a better choice than having “Act with Love” as a constant reminder in 2020. When the pandemic created so many situations for fear to take over, the reminder that we could choose to act with humility and love made a massive difference.
And that mindset now forms part of the foundation for what we are working toward this year, which is Bountiful Growth.
(3) What do we love about our work? And what does that say about who we are? Those are not easy questions to sit with either. Yet like all efforts to know ourselves better so we can lead better, asking these questions is worth it.
I hope you’ll join me in the next few days in this ongoing exploration of the #WorkWeLove.
