Go Virtual Assistants (GO-VA) Drive Value Awardee - Novem

In 2020, the audiobook market grew as more people consumed books on health, personal development, and a range of other topics. One of our Australian clients is the market leader in audiobooks and large-print books and we are grateful that their team in Cebu is growing fast.

In April, one of their team members, Novem Mai, won the Drive Value Award. She works as a MetaData Librarian, which means she makes it a lot easier for listeners to find the books that match their interests and needs.

We are proud of you, Novem! #YouAreRemarkable

Go Virtual Assistants (GO-VA) Drive Awardee - Lorraine

In GO-VA, drive gets shown in our determination “to succeed and help our clients exceed their goals.”

Lorraine won this award in March, her 18th month in GO-VA. She works as a Home Design VA for a fast-growing corporate housing provider that operates in more than 30 cities in the U.S.

The effort that goes into making homes (which are now also our offices, at least on most days) more comfortable and more pleasant is meaningful work. And part of the impact of Lorraine’s work is that she helps total strangers live, work, and feel better.

Dr. Kate Isaacs - Go Virtual Assistants (GO-VA)

Dr. Kate Isaacs - Go Virtual Assistants (GO-VA)

We love what Dr. Kate Isaacs said about how nimble organizations let their purpose define them. In an MIT Sloan webinar this week about nimble leadership, she explained that in nimble organizations, purpose keeps them aligned, as it motivates and inspires them. A clear purpose uplifts: it’s the difference between “making cars” and “enabling people to be more mobile.”

Discovery is a core value in the GO-VA tribe. If you know of any webinars about leading globally distributed teams and putting purpose to work, at work, let us know!

4 Principles That Drive Behavior

So, what do we mean when we talk about #WorkWeLove? Three things, for a start:

(1) Work that we’ve seen others do that just blew us away. This is the easy part.

(2) Decisions we can make as leaders to help our teams find more happiness at work and even discover what they love about work. Not always easy, this one.

I may have mentioned before that when my brother Matt and I told a few people that our 2020 theme for GO-VA would be “Act with Love,” some people told us that was a bad idea. “You can’t tell people you work with that you love them!?!”

In hindsight, we couldn’t have made a better choice than having “Act with Love” as a constant reminder in 2020. When the pandemic created so many situations for fear to take over, the reminder that we could choose to act with humility and love made a massive difference.

And that mindset now forms part of the foundation for what we are working toward this year, which is Bountiful Growth.

(3) What do we love about our work? And what does that say about who we are? Those are not easy questions to sit with either. Yet like all efforts to know ourselves better so we can lead better, asking these questions is worth it.

I hope you’ll join me in the next few days in this ongoing exploration of the #WorkWeLove.

Bountiful Growth Begins From Within - GO Virtual Assistants (GO-VA)

How much we’ll grow and in what areas of our lives will all begin with the thoughts that occupy our minds. As leaders at work and in our families, let’s choose our thoughts well!

For our first Discover You lunch for 2021, the themes that stood out were gratitude and growth.

CEO Fiona Kesby began with a presentation that featured developments in 2020 and in January 2021 that the whole www.go-va.com.ph/home tribe is thankful for.

COVID-19 Daily Update for GO-VA: Be Determined | 1 May 2020

Virtual assistants are more attuned than most people to what works when collaborating with distributed teams. GO-VA COVID-19 Daily Update: Mental Road Map | 16 July 2020

What are your paradigms? A paradigm, as Stephen Covey defined it, is “the way we see the world, not in terms of our visual sense of sight but in terms of perceiving, understanding, and interpreting.” Are you responding out of a paradigm of scarcity and fear, or out of abundance and love?
