Fiona Kesby, CEO of Go Virtual Assistants

Fiona Kesby is a CEO, public speaker, and mother of 2 teenagers. She has built a track record in recruitment and sales and is a firm believer in the power and fulfillment of learning for life.

Originally from Brisbane, Fiona moved with her 2 daughters to Cebu, Philippines in May 2015 to lead Go Virtual Assistants (GO-VA) as it scaled from having fewer than 20 full-time team members at the start to more than 400 as of May 2020.

She loves to learn about and share ideas, all tested in the businesses she and her brother Matt Kesby have built, about:

  • The importance of organisational culture
  • Unleashing human potential
  • The game-changing advantages of outsourcing, when both the people and technology pieces are done right.

She has enjoyed public speaking engagements on these subjects in events hosted by Asia CEO Forum, Google Business Group-Cebu, and Payoneer.

There is a world of talent that can lift your business beyond your expectations. Fiona and the entire Global Office team would love to help you find them.

Do You Believe In “What you see is all there is” or “WYSIATI”

As business leaders, it’s important for us to know what we don’t know yet.  To avoid a condition that the economist and psychologist Daniel Kahneman calls “WYSIATI” or “What you see is all there is.”

All the challenges of 2020 have reminded us to dig for verifiable facts (what we know) and to pay attention to the questions we and our teams ask (what we know we don’t know).

“Simply articulating this second category gives more nuance to your understanding,” Eric J. McNulty writes (“To See the Future More Clearly, Find Your Blind Spots”, 7 January 2021 in strategy+business). “Then, go deeper by getting curious.”

This story helps a lot:

Because our teams often lean on us to help make sense of what’s happening, it can be easy to forget sometimes that there’s much we don’t know yet. And that’s OK. If we can all commit to stay curious and work toward discovery, we’ll eventually know and understand more.
