“Do a little more than you're paid to. Try a little harder than you want to. Aim a little higher than you think possible, and give a lot of thanks to God for health, family & friends.”
When you do things out of passion and from the heart, everything seems easy and then you're able to do a little bit more and go a little further. At the end of the day, it's your purpose and passion, grit and gratitude that will propel you toward true success.
Four years ago, my brother Matt Kesby - founder of GO-VA - asked me to take on the CEO role. I was completely on board with the idea! I was doing most of the role already in Cebu as Sales & Recruitment Director.
The only thing I was not totally sold on was the fact that I had to do a once-a-month CEO Presentation in front of the team. I was scared - no, terrified - of public speaking. I told Matt I couldn't do it! But my brother, being my number 1 supporter and motivator, reassured me that I am capable of doing great things, public speaking included. All I had to do was step out of my comfort zone and practice.
So I did it.
Every month, I practised and prepared myself to meet the team. At first, it all felt very foreign to me, but over time, I was able to gain confidence. Before long, the CEO Lunch Presentation became my favourite company event!
Other bodies, groups, and communities started inviting me to speak at events - and I'm so glad I didn't have trouble doing them anymore because I had already made peace with feeling comfortable outside of my comfort zone.
If I can do it, so can you! Take the first step; the rest will follow! Remember: you are brave enough to reach your dreams; resilient enough to face challenges that come along the way; and you are a remarkable individual, capable of doing remarkable things! Drop your self-doubt and quit limiting yourself - start believing in yourself, and your greatest dreams will begin to unfold.
